ETSU's Big Fall Show keeps getting bigger. This year's performances, Friday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. in ETSU's D.P. Culp Auditorium, feature three new groups, as well as the ETSU Chorale and men's vocal group TenBucsWorth. Proceeds from the annual concert help the ETSU Chorale raise funds for its international concert tours.
Not many books both fascinate and expand the imagination of children. Maurice Sendak's children's book, "Where the Wild Things Are" has implored an entire generation of young minds to think beyond reality to teach valuable lessons about life. The recently released movie adaptation of the story "Where the Wild Things Are," directed by Spike Jonze, is sure to capture the minds and hearts of children and adults alike visually as its literary counterpart has for a generation.
The ARTSMARTS Creativity Auction will raise money for ETSU advertising and media arts scholarships. Educators, professionals and students in the advertising community are teaming up with local and regional artists to sponsor the first adsmarts creativity auction.
Legendary jazz group Spyro Gyra will present East Tennessee State University's 2009 Homecoming Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center's Martha Street Culp Auditorium. The concert is also part of the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts 2009-10 Art Series.
Halloween Metal Fest - Cahootenany's will be hosting a Halloween Metal Fest. Doors open at 4 p.m., show starts at 5 p.m. Cover is $5. Costumes are welcome. Costume contest - Electric Cowboy will be hosting a costume contest featuring $2,500 worth of cash and prizes on Oct.
