Dear Editor,
I am responding to the "Walking by faith" article currently
being published in the East Tennessean. I am slightly offended by this article, myself not being a Christian. If one decides to write an article in such style, then the title "Walking
by faith" is somewhat misleading.
If this article is only about Christianity, then please label it as one. If you decide to keep the title, I would highly suggest you don't keep every article to Christianity. Rather, I suggest an article about every other faith (and yes, this includes the outlier religions of Scientology and Satanism
among others). This way, those on campus who are not Christian do not feel forced to join this religion or can diversify
their thoughts on the other religions.
I understand that I do not have to read this article or paper at all, but if I am going to read this paper, I don't want to feel like I am forced to lean toward one religion simply because it is "the norm" or the "majority" in this area. We are a university, not a Christian college.
Only writing about one religion is leaving out students here on campus who are not of that religion.
I'm not saying that this article
should not be published. I am simply arguing that if one decides to write about religion, then all religions should be put into the same article.
