The ETSU Department of Art and Design is pleased to announce the opening of David Mazure's Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, "Schema." The exhibition will be held from Feb. 23-27 at the Slocumb Galleries in Earnest C. Ball Hall on the East Tennessee State University campus.
A reception is scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 5:08-8:05 p.m. and is open to the public.
The exhibition is comprised of eight graphite drawings, one ink drawing, eight vinyl prints, 260 lenticular prints, more than 50 digital inkjet prints and one video installation.
The exhibition presents the artist's exploration into using drawings and prints as installation. An eclectic mix of science, art and other disciplines is the focus of the exhibition that requires a viewer to experience the artwork in person in order to fully appreciate it. The show guarantees to offer a visual feast for the intellect that may enable the individual to elevate beyond their previously understood notions of the universe and their place within it.
David Mazure received his BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 1998. He has worked in Manhattan as a fashion designer and illustrator for many years. He recently moved to Mars Hill, N.C., to complete his Master of Fine Arts degree at East Tennessee State University.
Slocumb Galleries are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information, call the gallery at 423.483.3179 or visitwww.davidmasure.com.
