On Saturday April 18, Officer McPeak of the Johnson City Police Department will give a short safety seminar to explain the rules of the road for bicycles.
The free event will be held at the Basler Center for Physical Activity on East Tennessee State University's campus from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m.
"In the current economic times, a lot more people are riding their bicycles to get about town," said Lance Lewis, ETSU junior and Initiative for Clean Energy president. "Unfortunately, many people don't know the rules of the road and are at risk to serious bodily harm."
The seminar is absolutely free and open to everyone in the community, not just ETSU students. All ages are welcome.
"Lance and I are hosting this seminar so the road can be a little safer for cyclists and drivers," said Fran Canedo, Northeast State Community College professor and co-sponsor of the event.
For more information, contact Lance Lewis via e-mail at zjll44@goldmail.etsu.edu or call (865) 585-1698.
