Is SGA out of debt? When will ETSU host the next major concert?
These concerns have prompted many students to inquire with the Student Government Association.
"Each year students pay into the SGA student activities account," said Sally Lee, associate vice president of Student Affairs. "Because of these funds, as of the beginning of last fall semester, SGA was able to get out of the debt that resulted from the Banner error."
After getting back on track financially, SGA is ready to host the next major concert during the fall 2009 semester. The previous two student polls will be used to determine the performing artist, who as of now is still unknown.
According to Lee, the budget for the upcoming fall concert is between $140,000 and $170,000, which is the usual amount spent per concert.
Many students not returning to ETSU in the fall inquired with SGA about whether they would be compensated for the student activity fees they paid, which alleviated the debt problem, but produced no major concert. SGA came up with a solution.
All students who will graduate before the fall or will not return to school can request two tickets to attend the show.
To do this, the students not returning must fill out a request form that can be found in the SORC and return it to the SGA office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
However, filling out a request form does not guarantee receipt of tickets. A panel formed by the SGA will evaluate the merit of each request.
Upon approval of the panel, arrangements will be made to distribute the allotted tickets to the non-returning students.
"Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis with priority seating going to the individuals who return their request forms the earliest," said Corrina Jackson, SGA Secretary of External affairs.
