Damon Williams (shown in this publicity photo) was one of the featured comedians at Friday's Poetry and Comedy Tour sponsored by the office of Multicultural Affairs.

The house wasn't packed, but comedian powerhouses came to the stage on Friday the 13th. The Culp Center's Martha Street Culp Auditorium housed the Multicultural Affairs' Poetry and Comedy Tour Friday at 9:30 p.m. The tour featured a couple of comedians who have become mainstays in the comedy circuit. Kelly K-Dubb Walker opened up the show. K-Dubb's comedic energy has earned him spots on Def Comedy Jam and BET's Comic View, and he brought the same energy to ETSU students.

Spoken word artist Abyss graced students with his musical flair. He touched on subjects of love, social reform and religion as he sought to get his listeners "high like gas prices."

Headliner Damon Williams was the opening act on "The Original Kings of Comedy Tour." He's hosted several episodes of "Showtime at the Apollo" and has also been featured on BET's Comic View. Calling Williams funny is an understatement.

Students (and faculty) were rolling out of their chairs, clapping their hands and wiping tears from their eyes. Williams was a true crowd pleaser, touching on real-life subjects and shedding a comedic light on the topics.
